The Story
The Story
Beyond the Old Rose Walk, where the village gardens reached towards the morning sun, stood a building unlike any other in Hawthorn.
As the years passed, travellers brought more than stories.
They arrived carrying seeds wrapped in linen, delicate cuttings protected in clay pots, and tales of distant gardens where flowers bloomed through seasons unknown to the valley.
Many believed such fragile plants would never survive the long northern winters.
The Reader smiled.
"Every place has its own way of growing," he would say.
"You need only understand what it asks of you."
Among the people of Hawthorn lived a gardener whose love of growing things was known throughout the village. Though his name has long since been forgotten, his work never was.
Inspired by the Reader's words, he built a great glasshouse.
Its iron frame stood firm against the changing seasons, while countless panes of shimmering glass gathered the warmth of the sun and sheltered tender plants from the cold.
Inside, every season seemed to linger a little longer.
Winding paths led between carefully tended beds and rows of earthen pots.
Climbing jasmine filled the warm air with delicate white blossom, its sweet fragrance drifting through the open windows on bright afternoons.
Beneath the benches, rich earth released the deep, comforting scent of patchouli, grounding the sweetness of the flowers with the warmth of fertile soil.
Together they created a fragrance that spoke of patient hands, quiet dedication and the simple joy of watching something flourish.
The glasshouse soon became one of Hawthorn's most cherished places.
Gardeners shared seeds and cuttings with neighbours.
Children marvelled at flowers they had never seen before.
Travellers lingered beneath the sunlit roof, surprised to find distant blooms thriving so far from the lands from which they had come.
The Reader often wandered its winding paths in silence.
He believed every plant carried the memory of the place where it first took root.
Yet here, tended with kindness and care, those memories became part of Hawthorn's own story.
Years passed.
The gardener grew old.
One spring, he tended the flowers for the final time.
When he was gone, no one possessed quite the same gift for caring for the glasshouse.
Slowly, the seasons reclaimed it.
A pane cracked here.
A climbing vine reached where it had never been allowed before.
The paths softened beneath moss, and wild flowers found their own way between the stones.
Though no longer as it once had been, the glasshouse never lost its quiet beauty.
People still wandered its forgotten paths, remembering the man who had believed even the most delicate things could flourish if given warmth, patience and time.
And so it became known as The Old Glasshouse.
A place where flowers from distant lands found a home, where nature gently reclaimed what had been built by caring hands, and where the people of Hawthorn remembered that beauty does not disappear with time, it simply changes with the seasons.
For the Best Fragrance Experience
For the Best Fragrance Experience
Our wax melts are carefully crafted to deliver a rich and lasting fragrance. To enjoy the very best performance, consider the following:
Room Size
Larger or open-plan spaces naturally require more fragrance to fill the room. For the best scent throw in these areas, using more than one wax burner may be beneficial.
Fragrance Choice
We use the highest fragrance load our wax can safely hold. As every fragrance is made from a unique blend of ingredients, some scents will naturally be lighter or stronger than others.
Wax Burner
Your choice of wax burner plays an important role in fragrance performance. Burners that become too hot, or have only a short distance between the tealight and the melting dish, can cause the fragrance to evaporate more quickly. For the best results, we recommend using a wax melt burner with approximately 10cm between the tealight flame and the melting dish, allowing the wax to melt gently and release its fragrance gradually.
